How to Capture Images
How to Capture the best images
Getting Ready
| 1. Thoroughly cleanse all 3 d.Mistify mirrors and wipe with the alcohol swabs provided |
| 2. Brush and floss the teeth as thoroughly as possible |
| 3. Isolate the teeth eg: move the lips, cheeks and tongue away from the teeth using retractors |
| 4. Dry the teeth using the nozzle attachment (which is attached by sliding the positioning plate into the mounting slot on the handle) |
| 5. Remove the nozzle attachment and place an occlusal mirror of choice in the d.Mistify handle. (Larger occlusal mirror for adults or smaller for children). Place the mirror into the rear slot (NOT the front air vent slot) of the device and push down until locked in. |
🦷 Patient Positioning
| Place the patient in a comfortable chair and lay their head tilted slightly back: this helps expose the upper and lower teeth and allows the mirror to reflect the full. |
| Mouth should be wide open: Use cheek retractors to expose the arches. |
| Tongue control: Instruct the patient to keep their tongue relaxed and down if possible. |
📸 Operator Positioning
| Stand in front of the patient’s head: This gives you a direct line of sight into the mouth and mirror. Your arms should be comfortably extended, elbows slightly bent. |
|
Hold the iPhone Horizontally: Use both hands for stability. Enable the grid and level features in Camera settings to align the shot.
|
| Use 2x–3x Zoom or Macro Lens: This minimizes distortion and captures sharp detail. |
| Keep the Camera Perpendicular to the Mirror: Avoid angling the phone—this distorts the image. The mirror should reflect the occlusal surface directly upward toward the lens. |
🪞 d.Mistify device positioning
|
For upper arch: Place the occlusal mirror against the lower arch, angled to reflect the upper teeth’s biting surface. |
